Nearly all species of sea turtle are endangered or critically endangered! One of the simplest everyday things you can do to lower your involvement in the threats they face is to say NO to single use plastic! #RefuseSingleUse.

After constantly seeing these guys tangled up and suffering from the plastic items we use every day it becomes almost impossible to not see every stray plastic bag tumbling down the street or straw lying on the sidewalk as the difference between life or death because for them it truly is! Especially if you live in coastal areas, if you don't pick it up it will almost always find its way to the sea. Plastic doesn't break down so it has plenty of time to do so!

Our convenience isn't a good enough reason to put the survival of these animals and so many others in jeopardy. The world we live in makes it frustrating to try and avoid plastic completely (I'm still navigating it as well!) but it's not impossible. Start with one thing, like throwing a box of paper or stainless steel straws in your bag or car, and you'll be surprised how easy it becomes to keep adding new ways to steer clear of plastic. And how good you'll feel knowing every plastic bag you turn down is one less that could end up in the sea!
